UNIFORM | Lapel Pins
Stella McCartney wearing a Remembrance Poppy lapel pin.
Wes Anderson, Nick Wooster, and cool street style dudes have been steadily reclaiming lapel pins from the boxy suits of politicians and placing them on their own blended wool, silk, tweed, and corduroy lapels. We talked pocket squares last week as the perfect opportunity for women to bring a subtle pop of color to their blazer or jacket, and I feel the same way about lapel pins. Why the hell not, right? If your lapel has a buttonhole (that's the English term for boutonnière), a silk knot is a cheap and easy way to go. If not, there's plenty of options out there.
Clockwise from top left: Pewter Whale lapel pin ($5); Vintage bow tie lapel pin (similar version $89); Wm. Spear vintage Land Rover lapel pin ($12); Thomas Pink silk knot ($10 for pair); Arrow and Chain lapel pin ($17); Orvis feather brooch ($14-$39); Super Pop boutonniere ($22).
